Pita & Del Prado Case Study

$10.5 Million Awarded for Paralyzed Man

Date: June 25, 2004

Mr. McNeil was a 65-year old security officer. On his way home from work, a distracted tourist cut into his lane and drove him into a concrete embankment. Mr McNeil was left a quadriplegic. The insurer for the tourist denied fault and offered $300K. P&D tried the case to the jury. After a week-long trial, the jury awarded Mr. McNeil and his wife $12 million, placing 90% of the fault on the tourist. Thanks to the result, Mr. McNeil has and will continue to receive the necessary home care, medical attention, and other attention that, unfortunately, he requires because of the tragedy.
